How do I add a question to an existing survey?
  1. Sign into Ysurvey using your administrative user name and password.
  2. Click the "Edit" link that corresponds to the survey you'd like to edit.
  3. Click "New Question" to add an additional question to your survey.

What are the available question formats?
When creating a new question or modifying an existing question, you may select one of 5 question formats:
  • Single-line textbox. The single-line textbox is useful for a short free-form response, such as a person's name or email address. Responses are limited to 500 characters. Example:

  • Multi-line textbox. The multi-line textbox can accommodate more detailed comments in a longer, free-form response. Responses are limited to 2000 characters. Example:

  • Pull-down menu. Pull-down menus are especially useful for multiple-choice questions with many answer choices, since the answer choices remain hidden until the user clicks on the menu. Example:

  • Radio button. Radio buttons are designed for multiple-choice questions with a few, mutually-exclusive answer choices, such as "Yes/No/Don't Know". Example:
    Yes
    No
    Don't know
  • Checkbox. Checkboxes are appropriate for multiple-choice questions that allow one or more selections. Example:
    Red
    Green
    Blue
    Yellow

    Rating (1..5). Ratings on a scale of 1 to 5 are particularly useful for quantifying user feedback or measuring customer satisfaction. Answer choices are generated automatically. Example:

How do I make a question required?
When creating a new question or editing an existing question, click the "Required" checkbox to make a question required. Required questions will be denoted with a red asterisk (*), and users will receive an error message if a required question is not answered. The survey submission will not be saved if any required questions are not answered.

How do I create answer choices to my questions?
When you select "Pull-down menu", "Radio button" or "Checkbox" from the "Format" pull-down menu, a blank answer choice will appear. Fill in an answer choice and click the "more" link to add another answer choice. (All other question formats do not require adding answer choices.)

How can I re-order my questions and answer choices?

If you wish to move a question or answer choice up one position, simply click on the "up" arrow icon: . Click on the "down" arrow icon () to move a question or answer choice down one position.

How can I delete a question or an answer choice?
When creating a new survey or modifying an existing survey, you may delete questions and answer choices by clicking the trash can icon .

Please Note: Any recorded responses associated with that question or answer choice will be permanently deleted.

 
What happens to responses I've already received when I delete a question or an answer choice?
When you delete a question or an answer choice, you should be aware that any responses associated with that question or answer choice will also be permanently deleted.

How do I edit an existing question or an answer choice?

When creating a new survey or modifying an existing survey, click on a question or an answer choice and modify the text as necessary. Click the "Save" or "Preview" button when you have finished. Any changes you make will take effect immediately.
